Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as a companion to the global phenomenon Nintendo and Game Freak had built throughout the decade. Produced by OLM, Inc. and directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the film represented a cultural milestone, translating a television and gaming franchise into theatrical animation and drawing audiences well beyond the established fanbase.

The cell titled Team Rocket & Mew captures a quiet, tension-filled moment in which Mew drifts through a darkened, violet-cast space while Meowth and his cloned counterpart observe from a nearby ledge. The contrast between Mew's serene movement and the watchful figures above gives the frame an understated weight that rewards close attention.
