FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, adapting the Japanese theatrical release that had arrived the previous year. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film arrived at the peak of the global Pokémon phenomenon and became one of the highest-grossing anime features of its era, introducing millions of Western audiences to theatrical anime for the first time.

The cell titled Pikachu Falling captures a kinetic moment aboard what appears to be Mewtwo's massive airborne fortress, with Ash pressed against the vessel's curved golden hull as Pikachu tumbles freely through the open sky above him. The wide composition and bold primary colors reflect the film's theatrical ambition, freezing a brief but visually striking beat from one of the story's most urgent sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
