FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak. Adapted from the beloved video game and television franchise at the height of Pokémon's cultural dominance, the film drew record opening-weekend audiences and introduced a generation to theatrical anime. Its themes of identity and conflict gave it a weight that outlasted the initial craze.

This cell, titled Mew, captures the legendary Pokémon suspended in flight against a rich purple background, with the two consecutive frames showing Mew in nearly identical poses — a quiet, graceful moment that reflects the character's elusive and ethereal nature throughout the film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
