FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release from Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and 4Kids Entertainment, the film marked the first theatrical feature for the globally dominant Pokémon franchise, drawing record opening weekends and cementing the property's cultural reach beyond television and trading cards.

This 35mm cell, titled Mewtwo, captures the genetically engineered Pokémon silhouetted against a luminous blue orb in what appears to be his fortress interior, barbed antenna structures rising above in the darkness. The paired duplicate frames suggest an adjacent pull from the same scene, offering collectors two views of one of the film's most visually striking and thematically central moments.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
