FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its 1998 Japanese release by Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and based on Nintendo and Game Freak's phenomenon, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became one of the highest-grossing animated films of its year, cementing Pokémon's cultural reach beyond television and games.

This cell captures Mewtwo in a sequence of consecutive frames showing the psychic Pokémon raising its arm overhead as a dark orb materializes, then transforms into a crackling blue energy sphere. The low-angle composition emphasizes Mewtwo's imposing presence against a warm background, preserving a key moment of the character's formidable power on 35mm film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
