FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as an extension of the global phenomenon that had overtaken television, trading cards, and playgrounds alike. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became one of the highest-grossing anime films released in the West at that time, cementing Pokémon's cultural reach well beyond its video game origins.

These consecutive frames capture Pikachu small and isolated within a sweeping purple-lit curved interior, consistent with the imposing architecture of Mewtwo's fortress. The title Pikachu Falling reflects the vulnerability on display — the beloved character rendered diminutive against a cold, theatrical environment that defined the film's darker emotional register.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
