FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release by Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and 4Kids Entertainment, the film marked the theatrical debut of one of the most commercially dominant media franchises of its era, drawing record opening weekends and cementing animation's crossover appeal to mainstream audiences.

This consecutive pair of frames captures the moment the operator has titled Pikachu Falling — Pikachu rendered small against a sweeping dark purple mechanical interior, the dramatic angle emphasizing scale and vulnerability. Shot on 35mm, the two near-identical cells preserve a single sustained instant from one of the film's most emotionally charged sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
