FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as a co-production with OLM and 4Kids Entertainment. Adapted from the Japanese original released the previous year, it marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became a genuine cultural landmark, drawing audiences well beyond the core animated series fanbase and setting box office records for an anime release in the Western market.

This cell, titled Mew, captures the legendary Pokémon bathed in a deep violet glow against a dramatically shadowed theatrical backdrop. Across the three frames, Mew appears in near-identical silhouette compositions, with one frame also placing Mewtwo within the same luminous purple atmosphere — a pairing that sits at the emotional and narrative center of the film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
