FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as the theatrical centerpiece of a franchise that had already reshaped children's entertainment. Produced by OLM, Inc. and 4Kids Entertainment, the film represented the first major anime property to achieve wide mainstream theatrical release in the United States, drawing enormous audiences and cementing Pokémon as a cultural phenomenon of the late 1990s.

This cell captures Pikachu as a small, solitary figure set against the sweeping purple arched interior of what appears to be Mewtwo's fortress. The curved architectural environment dwarfs the character across the repeated frames, creating a quiet tension between the familiar mascot and the imposing, otherworldly space surrounding him. It is a compositionally striking moment from one of animation's most commercially significant theatrical releases.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
