FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release from OLM, Inc. and Toho. Adapted from the television phenomenon that had swept global youth culture, the film marked the franchise's first theatrical feature and remains a defining artifact of late-1990s animation and media licensing history.

This cell captures Mew in a hovering pose, filmed from below against a purple-tinted background, with the character's tail curling overhead. Three sequential frames document incremental movement through the limbs and tail, preserving the hand-drawn continuity of a single fluid animation passage. The confirmed title Mew places this moment within one of the film's more quietly mythological sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
