FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak. Adapted from the wildly popular television series, the film marked a cultural milestone for the franchise, introducing theatrical animation to a generation of devoted fans and grossing over 160 million dollars domestically.

This cell captures Mewtwo in a sequence of airborne motion, the genetically engineered Pokémon suspended against a deep blue backdrop with his body angled dynamically and tail arcing upward. The three frames represent consecutive animation drawings, preserving the fluid movement characteristic of a battle or flight passage — a fitting artifact from one of the film's most visually charged sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
