FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as an extension of the global Pokémon phenomenon that had overtaken television, trading cards, and popular culture throughout the late 1990s. Produced by OLM, Inc. and originally released in Japan in 1998, the film represented a landmark moment in anime's crossover into mainstream Western cinema, drawing audiences well beyond its intended demographic.

This cell captures Ash Ketchum in direct confrontation with Mewtwo, his fist raised against the genetically engineered Pokémon in a composition bathed in cool blue atmospheric light. Across three sequential frames, the standoff is preserved from slightly shifting angles, documenting one of the film's most emotionally charged exchanges between trainer and creation.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
