FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release by Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and based on the globally dominant franchise, the film marked a cultural milestone as the theatrical debut of the Pokémon animated series, drawing enormous audiences and cementing the property's crossover from television and trading cards into cinema.

These three consecutive 35mm frames capture Ash Ketchum in a fighting stance, his blue jacket and backpack visible in the foreground, as Mewtwo looms behind him in a purple-lit environment. Drawn from the film's central confrontation sequence, the frames offer a rare look at the shot's continuity across successive cells, preserving a defining dramatic moment between the two figures at the story's emotional core.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
