FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak. Adapted from the beloved animated series at the height of the franchise's cultural dominance, the film drew enormous audiences and remains a defining artifact of late-1990s animation and merchandising history.

This cell captures Ash Ketchum in direct confrontation with Mewtwo, frozen mid-sequence as Ash holds his fighting stance against the genetically engineered Pokémon's swirling purple and blue energy field. The three consecutive frames preserve a single sustained moment from one of the film's most dramatic exchanges, offering a rare look at the fluid continuity of hand-drawn theatrical animation.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
