FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie was released in Japan in 1998 and in North America in 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film arrived at the peak of the global Pokémon phenomenon and became the highest-grossing traditionally animated film of that year in the United States. It remains a cultural landmark of late-1990s animation and a defining moment in the franchise's history.

This cell, titled Charizard, captures three distinct moments across its frames. The sequence moves from an abstract swirl of orange, gold and red energy to a close-up of Charizard in apparent combat, rendered in a bold posterised style, before closing on Mewtwo at the frame's edge, surrounded by swirling psychic energy in white and brown tones.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
