FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release by Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and based on the global phenomenon from Nintendo and Game Freak, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became one of the highest-grossing animated films of its year, cementing Pokémon's cultural footprint beyond television and trading cards.

This three-frame sequence captures Mewtwo centered against a luminous deep blue orb in what appears to be his castle arena, with Pikachu visible in the upper portion of the composition. The consecutive frames document a single sustained shot, the subtle shift in Pikachu's presence across the three cells suggesting natural motion within the sequence. Mewtwo's illuminated silhouette against the glowing backdrop reflects the film's signature visual atmosphere surrounding its central antagonist.
