FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its 1998 Japanese release by Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and 4Kids Entertainment, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became a cultural milestone of late-1990s animation, drawing record opening weekends and introducing a generation to feature-length anime storytelling.

This cell, titled Team Rocket in Mewtwo's Lab, captures Jessie, James, and Meowth beneath the imposing biomechanical architecture of Mewtwo's castle, a pink panel visible in the lower frame. The trio's voices were provided by Rachael Lillis, Eric Stuart, and Maddie Blaustein, respectively. Shot on 35mm, the frames preserve a continuous moment from one of the film's most atmospheric sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
