FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak. Adapted from the beloved animated series at the height of Pokémon's cultural dominance, the film drew record opening weekends and introduced millions of young audiences to theatrical animation from Japan.

This three-frame consecutive sequence captures Ash Ketchum in direct confrontation with Mewtwo inside the battle arena, the swirling purple energy behind them marking one of the film's most charged dramatic moments. Holding three frames from a single continuous action offers a rare sense of motion, preserving the kinetic tension of that encounter across the strip.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
