FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release from Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and based on the globally dominant Nintendo franchise, the film marked the first theatrical feature for the property and remains a defining artifact of the late-1990s animation boom.

This cell captures Mewtwo and His Clones assembled within the film's darkened arena sequence, presenting the genetically engineered Mewtwo alongside his created duplicates, among them cloned forms of Gyarados, Scyther, Nidoqueen, Ninetales, and Aerodactyl. Three consecutive frames from a single sustained shot offer an unusually complete window into this pivotal gathering, preserving the scene's brooding atmosphere across the full sequence of images.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
