FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original 1998 Japanese release from Toho. Produced by OLM, Inc. and based on the global phenomenon that had reshaped children's entertainment, the film marked the franchise's theatrical debut and became one of the highest-grossing animated films of its year.

This cell, titled Mew, captures the legendary Pokémon in a continuous sequence of frames showing the small, luminous creature enveloped in a shifting purple and pink energy aura against a dark background. Across the strip, the aura changes shape and intensity, culminating in a dispersing, outward burst at the right edge — a quiet but visually striking moment from one of animation's most recognizable mythical figures.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
