FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, adapting the Japanese theatrical release that had premiered the previous year. Produced by OLM, Inc. and 4Kids Entertainment, the film arrived at the peak of the global Pokémon phenomenon, drawing record opening weekends and introducing a generation of young audiences to theatrical anime. It remains a cultural landmark of late-1990s animation.

This cell, titled Pikachu, captures a brief sequential moment in which Pikachu moves through a dynamic electric discharge against a blue sky. Across four frames, the pose shifts subtly while the lightning effect builds and resolves, offering a rare look at how the animators constructed Pikachu's signature electrical display one drawing at a time.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
