FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as an adaptation of the globally dominant Nintendo and Game Freak franchise. Produced by OLM, Inc. in Japan a year prior, the film marked a cultural peak for the Pokémon phenomenon and remains a touchstone of late-1990s animated cinema.

This cell presents four frames of Mewtwo in close-up against a solid blue background, each image oriented upside-down on the strip as it ran through the projector. The repeated composition across all four frames gives the cell a striking, almost rhythmic quality, offering a focused portrait of the film's central antagonist.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
