FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak. Adapted from the beloved animated series at the height of Pokémon's cultural dominance, the film drew massive audiences and remains a defining artifact of late-1990s animation and franchise filmmaking.

This cell, titled Mewtwo Attacking, captures the film's central antagonist across four sequential frames. Mewtwo is shown conjuring and releasing a glowing blue energy sphere, with electric and psychic energy crackling around its body against a warm amber background. The progression documents a complete moment of action, preserving the character's imposing presence and the film's distinctive visual language on original 35mm.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
