FILM NOTES

Pokémon: Pikachu's Vacation was released by Warner Bros. in the United States in November 1999, paired theatrically with Pokémon: The First Movie. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the short arrived at the absolute peak of the global Pokémon phenomenon, making it a genuine artifact of one of popular culture's most concentrated moments of mass enthusiasm. Its hand-drawn animation represents the traditional cel production pipeline shortly before digital compositing became standard practice in theatrical animation.

This cell, confirmed as drawn from the Marill and Squirtle Race sequence, captures Marill mid-action, mouth open wide against the canyon backdrop, with a crowd of assembled Pokémon visible in the distance behind the character. The frame communicates the competitive energy of the scene and reflects the short's focus on Pokémon interacting independently, without their trainers present.
