FILM NOTES

Pokémon: Pikachu's Vacation was produced by OLM, Inc. and released by Toho in Japan in 1998 as a double feature alongside Pokémon: The First Movie. It marked the franchise's theatrical debut and introduced Western audiences to the animated world of Pokémon when it accompanied the English-language release in 1999. The short holds a particular place in animation history as one of the earliest examples of the global Pokémon phenomenon reaching cinema screens.

This cell, confirmed as drawn from the Marill and Squirtle Race sequence, captures a striking composition dominated by a large Pokémon filling the foreground against a warm golden cliff face, with smaller figures visible in the rocky background. The frame is oriented sideways relative to standard viewing, a characteristic artifact of how 35mm animation cells were sometimes pulled from the reel during production.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
