Pokémon 4Ever was released in North America in October 2002 through Miramax Films, the fourth entry in the theatrical Pokémon series produced by OLM, Inc. The film arrived during a transitional moment for the franchise, when its cultural peak had passed but its dedicated audience remained loyal. Its central narrative device, a time-travel storyline connecting the young Professor Oak to Ash's present-day journey, gave the film a reflective quality unusual for the series.

This cell, titled Ash, Pikachu and Sam, captures four consecutive frames from a forest chase sequence featuring Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, and young Sammy Oak moving urgently through dense foliage dotted with red berries. The near-identical compositions across all four frames preserve the kinetic rhythm of the scene, offering a rare glimpse into the hand-drawn animation movement cycles that defined this era of theatrical Pokémon production.
