FILM NOTES

Pokemon: The First Movie arrived in North American theaters in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Adapted from the Japanese animated feature produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak's franchise, it marked the property's theatrical debut in the West at the height of Pokemon's cultural saturation. The film drew enormous box office returns and remains a document of late-nineties media convergence between animation, gaming, and merchandising.

This cell captures Mew, the rare Psychic-type Pokemon central to the film's mythology, rendered small against a dark field with large purple and blue forms rising behind the figure. The title card reading MEW in purple text identifies this as a character introduction sequence from the theatrical trailer, making it a clean single-subject frame from a key promotional artifact of the release.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
