Pokemon: The First Movie arrived in North American cinemas in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as the theatrical extension of the global phenomenon that had overtaken children's entertainment. Produced by OLM and 4Kids Entertainment, the film marked a cultural peak for the franchise, drawing enormous audiences and cementing Pokemon's place in late-twentieth-century popular culture.

This cell captures Mew at a charged moment in the trailer's visual language, the legendary Pokemon rendered against a dark field with radial purple energy erupting outward in a stylised burst. The consecutive nature of the two frames preserves a single suspended instant, Mew's face emerging from the lower portion of the composition as the surrounding light expands dramatically around it.
