FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, adapting the Japanese theatrical feature that had released earlier that year. The film arrived at the peak of the franchise's cultural saturation, drawing enormous box office returns and marking one of the first major anime properties to achieve mainstream American theatrical success. Its promotional materials became artifacts of that moment, capturing a generation's introduction to the medium.

This cell, titled Mew, presents the legendary Pokémon silhouetted against a burst of purple energy, photographed from a low angle against a dark background. The composition is dramatic and spare, isolating Mew within the light in a way characteristic of the trailer's most visually striking passages. Adjacent framing suggests this cell sits within a sustained shot, offering a clean and complete image of one of the film's central figures.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
