Warner Bros. distributed Pokemon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, bringing the globally dominant franchise to American theaters at the height of Pokemon mania. The film marked a cultural milestone, pairing a theatrical feature with the short Pikachu's Vacation and generating enormous box office returns. Its promotional materials, including teaser trailers, were carefully designed to build anticipation among a devoted audience already transformed by the trading card game and animated series.

This cell, titled Mew, captures the legendary Pokemon rendered as a glowing purple silhouette against a dark background, perched amid mechanical surroundings in what reads as a trailer teaser moment. The duplicate adjacent frames suggest a printing rhythm common to promotional 35mm strips, preserving two nearly identical instants of Mew suspended in that signature luminous aura.
