FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokemon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, bringing the globally dominant Nintendo franchise to theatrical screens at the peak of the trading card and Game Boy craze. Adapted from the Japanese original, the film introduced Western audiences to Mewtwo's origin story and remains a cultural marker of late-nineties children's entertainment and the anime crossover moment in American cinema.

This cell, titled Venusaur Clone, captures a close-up of Venusaur mid-action, the frame rendered in the saturated greens and blues characteristic of the film's cloning laboratory sequences. The duplicate adjacent frame is consistent with trailer print construction of the period, where key action moments were often held across successive frames for visual emphasis.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
