Warner Bros. distributed Pokemon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, bringing the globally dominant Nintendo franchise to theatrical screens at the height of the late-1990s Pokemon phenomenon. Produced by OLM for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film represented a significant cultural moment, translating a television and trading card sensation into a feature-length animated release that drew enormous audiences and remains a touchstone of the era.
