FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The First Movie arrived in North American cinemas in November 1999, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following its original Japanese release the prior year. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film represented the peak of the late-1990s Pokémon phenomenon, drawing enormous audiences and cementing the franchise's cultural reach beyond television and trading cards.

This three-frame strip captures Venusaur, the Seed Pokémon, in a sequence from the 1998 theatrical trailer, consistent with the clone battle footage that defined the film's promotional campaign. The confirmed title, Venusaur Clone, places this cell within that pivotal confrontation. The sideways orientation on the strip and the deep blue-green palette reflect the stylised, atmospheric quality of the trailer's animation.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
