Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, adapting the Japanese theatrical feature that had premiered a year earlier. The film arrived at the peak of the franchise's cultural saturation, drawing record opening-weekend numbers and cementing Pokémon as a genuine cinematic phenomenon beyond its television origins. Promotional materials from this period, including 35mm trailer prints, circulated widely through American theaters in the months preceding release.

This cell, titled Team Rocket, captures Jessie, James, and Meowth framed from below against an open blue sky with clouds. The low angle lends the trio an unusual sense of presence, a quiet compositional choice within what was otherwise a fast-moving theatrical trailer.
