FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The First Movie in North America in November 1999, though promotional materials including this trailer circulated throughout 1998 as the franchise was reaching its peak cultural saturation. Adapted from the original Japanese feature, the film marked the first theatrical outing for the property and drew enormous audiences, cementing Pokémon's transition from television and trading cards into mainstream cinema.

This cell carries the confirmed title Mew, and the frames bear that out directly. Mew appears suspended against a deep black field, surrounded by shifting purple energy that gives the sequence an otherworldly, almost ethereal quality. The progression across the frame sequence shows Mew in increasingly dynamic motion, with the darkened background lending the small, luminous figure a striking visual isolation.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
