Pokémon: The Movie 2000 arrived in North American theatres in July 2000, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures following the franchise's explosive crossover from television to film. The sequel to the original Pokémon movie deepened the mythology of the series, centering on the legendary bird Pokémon and the oceanic deity Lugia, and drew enormous audiences at the peak of the global Pokémon phenomenon. It remains a defining artefact of turn-of-the-millennium popular culture.

This cell, titled Ash & Pikachu Ride On Lugia, captures a moment of genuine visual drama from the 35mm release print. The deep blue-purple palette and sweeping white streaks convey the kinetic energy of the sequence, with Lugia's pale elongated form cutting through what reads as storm or open water. The visible optical soundtrack strip confirms this as a theatrically projected frame from the film's original run.
