FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The Movie 2000 was released in Japan in 1999 and internationally in 2000, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in North America. Produced by OLM, Inc. for the Pokémon franchise at the height of its cultural dominance, the film represented a significant theatrical expansion of the animated series, drawing on the mythology of the Legendary birds and the creature Lugia. It remains a notable artifact of late-1990s anime crossover into Western mainstream cinema.

This encapsulated cell, titled Ash & Pikachu, captures a quiet but charged moment between the two central figures of the franchise. Across the duplicate adjacent frames, Pikachu is shown on an icy stone ledge, leaning toward or steadying Ash below — a small gesture that reflects the bond the entire series was built around. Holding two consecutive frames from a single scene gives this piece an uncommon sense of motion preserved in stillness.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
