Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The Movie 2000 in North America in July 2000, following the franchise's extraordinary cultural surge of the late 1990s. Produced by OLM and released in Japan the previous year, the film expanded the mythology established by its predecessor, centering on legendary Pokémon and the fate of the world's natural balance. It remains a document of animation and merchandising at a particular cultural peak.
