FILM NOTES

Pokémon: The Movie 2000 arrived in North American theaters in July 2000, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures during the absolute peak of the franchise's cultural saturation. Produced by OLM, Inc. and directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the film expanded on the television series with a larger mythological scope, centering on the legendary birds and the oceanic guardian Lugia. It remains a defining artifact of late-1990s anime crossover into Western mainstream cinema.

This cell, titled Lugia, captures the legendary Pokémon suspended within a swirling environment of deep purples and blues, accented by white energy streaks suggesting both cosmic and oceanic forces. The low frontal angle lends Lugia a commanding, almost reverent presence. The adjacent frame is nearly identical, indicating these are consecutive pulls from a single continuous shot — a rare pairing that preserves the animation's fluid motion in physical form.
