Pokémon: The Movie 2000 arrived in Japanese theaters in July 1999 and reached North American audiences the following summer through Warner Bros., riding the peak of the global Pokémon phenomenon. The sequel to the record-breaking first film expanded the mythology with a story centered on legendary birds and the balance of nature, drawing enormous box office returns and cementing the franchise's crossover appeal beyond its television origins.

This cell captures Slowking in a continuous shot sequence, the deliberate Pokémon guardian stationed at the island shrine throughout the film. Framed against a distinctive purple-toned background with a red-and-white ring buoy at his side, the three near-identical frames reflect the measured, unhurried presence Slowking brings to his role as keeper of the shrine's ancient prophecy.
