Pokémon: The Movie 2000 arrived in North American theaters in July 2000, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures during the height of the franchise's cultural dominance. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the film expanded on the television series with a larger mythological scope, centering on the legendary Pokémon Lugia and the elemental birds. It remains a defining artifact of late-1990s and early-2000s animation licensing in Western markets.

This cell, titled Charizard & Friends, captures a brief sequence of Charizard in sustained flight across a dramatic cloudy sky, with Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Togepi visible as companions and Lugia present within the scene. The three frames follow a continuous wing cycle, offering a rare look at the subtle positional shifts animators used to convey motion across sequential 35mm frames.
