Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The Movie 2000 in North America in July 2000, following the unprecedented theatrical success of the first film. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and Game Freak, the sequel centered on the Legendary Birds and arrived at the height of the global Pokémon phenomenon, drawing millions of young audiences into cinemas and cementing the franchise's crossover into feature animation.

This cell captures Zapdos across four frames of concentrated electrical action — explosive star-shaped discharges filling the composition, sharp angular lightning forms rendered in deep gold, and two close-ups that bring the creature's angular beak and fierce expression into focus. The sequence represents some of the film's most kinetically charged animation work.
