Warner Bros. distributed Pokémon: The Movie 2000 in North America in July 2000, following the franchise's explosive crossover from Game Boy cartridges and trading cards into mainstream cinema. Produced by OLM, Inc. for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the film centered on the legendary Pokémon Lugia and drew enormous audiences during the height of Pokémon's cultural dominance.
This four-frame cell captures the sequence titled Ash & Pikachu Ride On Lugia, showing Ash Ketchum and Pikachu mounted on Lugia's back against an open blue sky. Three frames present the image in full, while the fourth is a partial frame. It is a quiet, iconic moment from the film rendered in original 35mm photochemical print material.
