Produced by OLM, Inc. and directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the film centered on the legendary birds and the oceanic deity Lugia, arriving at the precise moment when Pokémon's hold on a generation was at its absolute peak.

This cell, confirmed as Ash & Pikachu Ride On Lugia, captures one of the film's most quietly affecting passages. Three frames hold Ash cradling Pikachu against an open blue expanse, the composition still and intimate.
