Pokémon: The Movie 2000 arrived at the height of Pokémania, when Warner Bros. and Nintendo's partnership turned a Game Boy phenomenon into a theatrical event. Following hot on the heels of the first film's blockbuster success, this sequel kept the franchise's momentum alive on the big screen, with Kids WB serving as the television home that had built the audience hungry for it. The network's branding was inseparable from the Pokémon craze, airing the series daily and priming millions of young viewers for each cinematic outing.
This cell preserves a trailer moment bearing the Kids WB presentation card, the kind of studio signature that opened countless promotional reels and tied a film directly to its broadcast lineage. Such cards are prized by collectors as artifacts of a specific marketing era, when network identity and film promotion were tightly bound together. For Pokémon memorabilia in particular, these pieces mark the intersection of television history and theatrical anticipation, a tangible fragment of how a generation first learned a new movie was coming.

Why so little survivesRelease prints were leased to theaters, not sold. When the run ended they went back to the distributor to be destroyed, and most were. What collectors hold today came from the prints that escaped that order, and no new 35mm prints of these films are being struck.
